V4.5

(I. Remembering God’s Faithfulness) O God, we’ve heard with waking ears What deeds Your hand performed in years When kings were felled and nations fled, By Your strong arm their hosts were shed. Not by our sword, not by our might, But by Your pow’r You won the fight. You loved us, Lord—Your light arose, Through You we triumphed o’er our foes. (II. Present Suffering, Unanswered Cries) But now, O God, You cast us low, No longer with our armies go. Before the foe we turn and flee, Our hearts are torn in agony. We eat the dust of shame and scorn, Our foes rejoice, their laughter worn. Yet we, Your name have not forgot— Why, Lord, do You reject our lot? (III. A Plea for Deliverance) Awake, O Lord! Why do You sleep? Rise up, our cries from darkness keep! For not our sin has brought this pain, Our hearts are true, our vows remain. For You we face the threat of death, Like sheep led low beneath their breath. Redeem us from this crushing night— O save us by Your love and might!
