Five days in Georgia, ATL humming nearby, Smyrna held the circle under a Southern sky. Clinicians rolled in ready, curiosity through the door. Laurie built the container, then somehow built some more. Two houses nestled in the trees, firelight, gathering spaces, Georgia sky, a saltwater pool and room to breathe, every detail shaped by Laurie’s hand. She gave Attunement somewhere to land, wrapped in Southern welcome. Across the Atlantic, Martin came from London, bringing AT Interweaves to Georgia. Here we go. We came to learn for clients, then the work said, “Your turn too.” Learning an Interweave means feeling what it can do. Going toward our own material, staying close to what appears, finding bracing under stories rehearsed for years. Armoring around the shock, blocking affect before it lands, protective organization with impressive plans. We don’t wrestle with the holding or tell the system what to be. We attend to what is happening, give changing shape room to breathe. Make room for what unfolds, make room for changing shape. Orienting, tension, shock and affect, attending as they take their place. When bracing blocks the process, an AT Interweave may meet the flow. Interweave, attune, observe, then back to DBR we go. ATL beneath the Georgia sky, there are deeper ways to know. Superior colliculus catches change, orienting turns toward the cue. Attention follows what is emerging, slowing down enough to view. Orienting, tension, shock and affect, stay with each as it arrives. Beneath the cortex, within the body, where the deeper sequence comes alive. When blocking enters the line: head and body relationship, attention, place and time. No forcing an outcome. No rehearsal required. We follow organization, including what came pre-wired. By Day Three, Georgia has questions. The jaw has filed for PTO. The sternum missed its cue. The shoulders looked at Martin: “Wait... we have options too?” This is Attunement, more than knowing what to do, a field spacious enough to notice what is subtle & true. Each clinician in their own process, each nervous system its own terrain, while the group holds the container for whatever enters the frame. One contraction finds another, then Martin says, “Look for more.” “There are no immaculate contractions, there may be a subcontractor” Each process follows its own current, while Attunement fills the room, separate journeys held together, giving each clinician space to bloom. Make room for what unfolds, make room for changing shape. Orienting, tension, shock and affect, attending as they take their place. When bracing blocks the process, an AT Interweave may meet the flow. Interweave, attune, observe, then back to DBR we go. Martin crossed the Atlantic, London to ATL, bringing years of Alexander understanding into the work he knows so well. Not just slides and explanations, but hands-on learning in the room, precision offered person by person, giving each process space to move. Teaching us to notice bracing, blocking against shock and affect, organization around overwhelm, the tiny things we might neglect. Thank you for crossing an ocean, for skill, attention & humor. London to Atlanta, & that Jet Lag, too, time zones tried to scramble him, but Martin always makes it through. So for every mile and weary smile, Martin, we appreciate you. And Laurie, before we found Smyrna, you were already on the case: messages, details, questions, getting everybody into place. Thank you for making Atlanta happen, for holding the edges with care. Southern hospitality met Attunement, and something special happened there. Here’s to Laurie. Here’s to Martin. Here’s to every clinician who came, going toward your own material, not merely learning its name. For vulnerability beside laughter, supporting one another through, and discovering AT Interweaves work on therapists too. Make room for what unfolds, give changing shape some space. Orienting, tension, shock and affect, attended in their place. When bracing blocks the sequence, an AT Interweave may meet the flow. Interweave, attune, observe, return to what begins to show. Individual process, collective field, different stories in one room. Five days of careful attention, giving every process room. When we leave Smyrna and travel home again, carry this field into the rooms where another process begins. Stay curious around the bracing. Stay attentive near the shock. Notice armoring around affect. Notice where the process blocks. Laurie made the gathering possible. Martin crossed an ocean. Every clinician brought the courage that made the field come alive. Atlanta. Smyrna. Five days. AT Interweaves. Attunement. DBR. Two houses. One remarkable gathering. One transatlantic Martin. More changing shape than anybody packed for. Make room. Attune. Interweave. Follow what unfolds...
