Don’t Let the Fire Burn Out

[Intro - slow blues guitar, Hammond organ swells] [Verse 1 - slow and heavy, preacher style] I was born on the tracks in eighteen eighty nine The flood came roaring, Lord, it took what was mine Rose and Andy, Holly and Michael, children of the tower The river swallowed twenty three in one dark hour But I’m still here, yeah I’m still standing tall Because something deep inside me wouldn’t let me fall [Pre-Chorus - building] The crystal wants your soul, child The darkness wants your name But there’s a lantern burning inside you That the devil cannot claim [Chorus - full gospel explosion] Don’t let the fire burn out Don’t let that lantern fade Every soul that walked through darkness Was once unafraid The train is still running, yeah it’s running tonight Don’t let the fire burn out Let it burn, burn bright [Verse 2 - gritty and raw] Rayana stepped into the dreamscape, Lord she went alone First navigator, first to make that place her home Eight weeks they say, eight weeks and you’re gone But that girl kept her lantern burning, kept on pushing on LifeForce tried to take her, dark crystal called her name But the Book of No Dawn whispered, child you’re not the same [Pre-Chorus] The crystal wants your soul, child The darkness wants your name But there’s a lantern burning inside you That the devil cannot claim [Chorus] Don’t let the fire burn out Don’t let that lantern fade Every soul that walked through darkness Was once unafraid The train is still running, yeah it’s running tonight Don’t let the fire burn out Let it burn, burn bright [Bridge - slow breakdown, just organ and voice] Old Otis has seen it all Eighteen eighty nine to now Watched the river take the innocent But Lord I made a vow That lantern never goes out No it never goes dark You were born with that fire burning Deep inside your heart [Gospel build - choir enters] Jack build the rail, build it right Let every lost soul find the light Franco, George, and Skyler too The quantum rail is calling you John and Michael heard the call The lantern shines enough for all [Final Chorus - slow and powerful] Don’t let the fire burn out Don’t let that lantern fade Every soul that walked through darkness Was once unafraid The train is still running, yeah it’s running tonight Don’t let the fire burn out [Outro - spoken word over fading blues guitar] The story chose this path itself… The Book of No Dawn is still calling… Keep that fire burning, child… Don’t you let it go out…
