Stone And String
I learned my marches in iron halls, Boots on stone, heard battle call. Steel rang loud, but louder still Was the song I forged by will. Not born for crowns or silken lies, I sang beneath the falling sky. They laughed when I slung my shield and string, Said war don’t bend to gentle things. But hear me now, hear courage rise, A dwarven heart never lies. Strike the shield, sound the cry, Stone won’t break and neither will I. From blood and fire, from oath and scar, I carry hope like a battle scar. Sing it loud, stand your ground, My song’s a blade you haven’t found. By stone and string, we hold the line… Your fear will break before mine. I’ve bled beside the fallen brave, Sang names so they’d not fade. Every note a vow I keep, For those who never wake from sleep. When steel feels heavy, arms grow weak, I lend my voice when hope won’t speak. I don’t sing for gold or praise, I sing to turn the tide of days. Lift your chin, take my hand… We stand or fall, but we stand. Ukulele cracked, raise your battle axe! Voice raw as the battle horn. Let the monsters hear me say: You don’t scare us. Not today. Strike the shield, sound the cry, Stone remembers those who try. If we fall, we fall as one, With laughter loud and banners torn. Sing it loud, let it ring, War bends knee to song and string. By stone and string, by fire and will… I’m still singing. I always will. So carve my name in stone or wind, Either way, you’ll hear me again.
