Welcome to the quantum world Can you believe what God unfurled A universe of tiny things Where we don’t pull the strings Can’t get a handle on this mystery Can’t work out what it means for me Did the missing bits fall down a scary black hole? Or does the man in the sky play whack-a-mole? Those elusive little fellas are starting to annoy It’s like trying to get a grip on a squidgy toy Yes, it’s all tangled up in mystery While the quantum world slips away from me More hiding places than the Pimpernel Do we look in heaven or visit hell? What can we do, when even time can’t tell If there ever was a clang, of, the starting bell? Double agent atoms want to defect Whatever happened to cause and effect? Nothing is certain, chaos is high Outdated theories waving goodbye Quarks make sparks but we don’t know where Photons and protons are dancing somewhere Bits and bobs have become the supremos The gluons and the bosons and the crazy neutrinos The quantum world could not be more confusing And it ain’t the place of Einstein’s choosing Makes as much sense as a psychedelic dream Looks like the dice game is going full steam More hiding places than the Pimpernel Do we look in heaven or visit hell? What can we do, when even time can’t tell If there ever was a clang, of, the starting bell? So, what lies behind the celestial curtain? One sure thing is that it’s uncertain I’m all in a tangle, it’s a mystery Why this quantum world keeps slipping away from me
