[speech by young woman shouting strong voice woth joy] The sun is returning! The fire is alive! The earth is awakening! The old world survives! [Singing] [Verse I — female vocal] Bring the branches to the fire, Bring the bread and bring the wine. Raise the cups beneath the heavens, For the turning wheel is ours tonight. Winter has carried us through darkness. Spring is waiting at the door. What was sleeping now awakens. What was silent speaks once more. [speech Mixed Choir] The sun returns! The light returns! The wheel turns round again! [singing mixed Choir] Raise the fire! Raise the song! Let the whole green valley sing along! Call the mountains! Call the sea! Call the ancient ones beneath the tree! Heya, heya! Round we go! Through the darkness, Into the glow! [Verse II] [singing by female vocal] Hear the children in the circle. Hear the elders tell the tale. Hear the fiddle through the night wind. Hear the voices on the hill. Every generation follows, Every generation leaves. But the earth remains beneath us, And the stars remain above the trees. [Call & Response-singing by female vocal&mixed choir] Solo: Who gave us the morning? Choir: The sun gave us light! Solo: Who gave us the river? Choir: The earth gave us life!
