The Spooky-Jolly Tree

V5

(Vibe: Upbeat, a bit theatrical, maybe a touch of oompah-pah meets spooky carnival. Think "Nightmare Before Christmas" meets a slightly madcap pop tune. Drums are jaunty but with a subtle march.) (Intro - A whimsical, slightly off-kilter melody played on something like a glockenspiel or a toy piano, then a bass clarinet or tuba joins with a slightly sinister walking bass line. Add a subtle, almost-heard "whoosh" sound.) (Verse 1) The calendar got muddled, the dates all went astray October merged with December, in a most peculiar way Now tinsel’s draped with cobwebs, and baubles glow with gloom Right here in the living room, escaping from the tomb! The jack-o'-lantern grins beside a Santa in a sleigh And underneath the branches, the specters come to play! (Pre-Chorus - Tempo builds, a swirling synth pad comes in, more urgent but still playful.) No silent night, no carols bright, no chestnuts on the fire Just a ghostly waltz and zombie shuffle, climbing ever higher! (Chorus - Full, vibrant, almost marching band feel with some spooky flourishes. Brass section hits with a slightly off-key fanfare.) Oh, look beneath the Halloween Christmas Tree! Where ghouls and goblins gather, wild and free! The zombies swayin' slow, with rotten teeth aglow, And ghosts are dancin' light, through the frosty midnight show! It's a spooky, jolly junction, a frightful festive scene, Underneath the shimmering, emerald, Halloween Christmas Tree! (Verse 2) A headless horseman's riding 'round the angel on the top The cranberries are eyeballs, about to surely drop! The mistletoe is thorny, with spiders in its cling While bony fingers try to make the silver bells all ring. A banshee sings a carol, a discordant, creepy sound As vampire bats with tiny Santa hats are flitting all around! (Pre-Chorus - Builds again, maybe a harpsichord or pizzicato strings join the swirling synth.) No silent night, no carols bright, no chestnuts on the fire Just a ghostly waltz and zombie shuffle, climbing ever higher! (Chorus - Even bigger, more bombastic. Horns are brighter, drums more prominent.) Oh, look beneath the Halloween Christmas Tree! (Bridge - Music becomes a bit more sparse, a little more mysterious. A sustained, slightly eerie string pad. The rhythm becomes more staccato, like tiptoeing.) The ornaments are cursed, each present is a scare, A severed finger peeking out, if you'd only dare... But no one seems to mind it, no one seems to care, They're just enjoying the party, breathing frosty, phantom air! A skeleton with candy cane bones, takes a ghostly hand, To do the "Monster Mash" across this enchanted land! (Instrumental Break/Solo - A playful, slightly mischievous solo on a theremin or a warbling synth, backed by the quirky marching band feel. Could feature a quick "jingle bell" sound effect followed by a "cackle.") (Chorus - Returns with maximum energy! Add some sleigh bells mixed with clanking chains for percussion.) Oh, look beneath the Halloween Christmas Tree! (Outro - The music winds down, gets a bit more chaotic with instruments dropping out one by one, leaving just the glockenspiel/toy piano playing the intro melody, which then ends with a final, slightly dissonant chord and a fading "whoosh" sound. A final, faint "Ho-ho-BOO!" is heard.)
