[Intro | Finger snaps, doo-wop harmonies] (Ooh-wah, ooh-wah) (Sha-na-na-na) (Ooh-wah, ooh-wah) [Verse 1 | Playful, Storytelling] Little cherub in the sky Wings of gold and a bow held high Shooting arrows left and right Making strangers hold on tight He's been working overtime Every February, rain or shine But when the job is finally done He flies home to no one [Pre-Chorus | Building] Always giving love away Never saving any for a rainy day Til one night he tripped on a cloud And that arrow sang out loud [Chorus | Big, Joyful, Group Harmonies] Cupid met his match (doo-wop, doo-wah) Cupid met his match (sha-na-na-na) Turned the arrow on himself Found a love like nothing else Cupid met his match! [Verse 2 | Tender, Reflective] Looked into a moonlit stream Saw a face inside the gleam Said hey there, who are you His reflection said I'm you, fool All those years he gave his heart To help other people start Never thought to stop and see The love was always meant to be free [Pre-Chorus | Building] Always giving love away Never saving any for a rainy day But now he knows the sweetest art Is loving your own heart [Chorus | Big, Joyful, Group Harmonies] Cupid met his match (doo-wop, doo-wah) Cupid met his match (sha-na-na-na) Turned the arrow on himself Found a love like nothing else Cupid met his match! [Bridge | Spoken Word, Sincere] You know what Maybe Valentine's ain't about finding somebody else Maybe it starts right here, inside Maybe the best love story Is the one you write with yourself [Final Chorus | Full Harmonies, Celebration] Cupid met his match! (doo-wop, doo-wah) Cupid finally met his match! (sha-na-na-na) Shot himself right in the heart Turns out that's the best place to start Cupid met his match! [Outro | Fading, Sweet] (Ooh-wah, ooh-wah) He met his match (Sha-na-na-na) Yeah he did (Ooh-wah) [End]
