When my body feels as if it is about to shatter like glass, when my breath grows faint and my steps begin to falter, there is still a light inside me that has not gone out. This is not about victory, nor about reaching the finish line beautifully. It is about choosing, at my most exhausted and fragile, to carry myself all the way to the end. Not for anyone’s gaze.
