[Verse 1] I remember my mother’s warm hugs Of love I remember her wavy auburn hair I remember the white gloves she wore When dad and her would dress up for the club The smell of a Sunday roast Or fresh baked Vienna loaf And her little poems That she always wrote to me [Pre-Chorus] She was home Her love was life Her life was love I remember how simple her love was It just existed Floated Always evident Encompassed everything around her [Chorus] She was love She was love A mother’s love (She was love) [Verse 2] Invisible yet present Something Holding me in an impregnable safety net Or parachute Protecting me always From near or far My mother’s love was solid rock Ancient trees Deep oceans Pure, innocent, trusting, comforting [Pre-Chorus] She didn’t preach wisdom She was wisdom She was an indestructible spirit She was love She taught me what love was Without teaching me [Chorus] She was love She was love A mother’s love (She was love) [Bridge] She was love In the room In the bread In the glove-white Sunday air She was love In the hard days In the prayers In the way she was always there [Final Chorus] She was love She was love A mother’s love (She was love) She was love She was love A mother’s love (Always love)
