The Mouse and the Throne

"The Mouse and the Throne" [Style Tags] humorous outlaw-country metal, Americana dark trap hip-hop, swamp blues, male rough vocal, female echo vocals, slide guitar with talk box, blues organ growl, percussive banjo, wailing harmonica, hurdy-gurdy drone, tape saturation, distorted 808 sub-bass, bouncy hydraulic groove. [Intro - Spoken Interlude - Sam (female)] (The track opens with a bouncy, mischievous percussive banjo rhythm and a low, wheezing accordion. The 808 sub-bass thumps a slow, arrogant heartbeat. Spoken smooth, theatrical, and holding back a laugh.) There’s a rumor going around the upper management of the afterlife. Word is, the Big Boss looked down at the underworld, saw the barricades, and started laughing. He leaned over the clouds, looked at the devil, and asked the ultimate question: "Are you seriously hiding from him?" [Verse 1 - Matt (male)] (A gritty acoustic guitar and a blues organ drop into a heavy, foot-stomping swamp groove. Matt’s voice is rough, arrogant, and highly amused.) Satan’s in the basement, sweating through his suit Reinforcing hinges, lacing up his boots God looks down from heaven, laughing at the sight Seeing all the demons hiding from the light He says, "Hey Lucifer, what's got you so stressed? Who's the heavy hitter putting hell to the test?" Satan points to Texas, pointing at the house, And God starts howling, "You're terrified of Mouse!?" [Pre-Chorus - Matt (male) & Sam (female)] (A wailing harmonica and a mouth harp twang out a comedic, creeping rhythm.) (Matt - male) He’s just a mechanic... (Sam - female) ...with a wrench and a code! (Matt - male) He’s just a mortal... (Sam - female) ...on a coastal road! [Chorus - Matt (male) & Sam (female)] (Explosive, heavy-stomping Southern rock-trap drop. The slide guitar with talk box screams a mechanical, laughing riff over a punchy kick drum.) (Matt - male) God is making jokes, laughing from the sky! (Sam - female) ...watching old Satan just terrified and shy! (Matt - male) You locked the gates of hell to save your little home, 'Cause a boy they call Mouse is coming for the throne! (Sam - female) Yeah, the iron is heavy, the irony is thick! (Matt - male) The devil is sweating and he's feeling mighty sick! (Both) He's scared of a mortal with the oil on his blouse! The Lord of the Underworld is hiding from the Mouse! [Verse 2 - Matt (male)] (The beat drops to a dirty, hydraulic trap rhythm. The hurdy-gurdy drones a dizzying, mocking waltz.) Satan says, "You don't get it, Lord, you haven't seen the frame! This guy drinks the diesel and he weaponized the flame! He’s got the .380 loaded, he’s got the straight-six tuned, If he comes back down here, my kingdom is ruined!" God just shakes His head, wipes a tear right from His eye Watching the reaper just trying to survive "You've fought angels and prophets and holy crusades, But a mechanic named Mouse got you hiding in the shades!" [Pre-Chorus - Matt (male) & Sam (female)] (A Viking war horn blows a short, comical burst like a clown car horn.) (Matt - male) Bolt up the hatches... (Sam - female) ...and bury the gold! (Matt - male) The Galveston monster... (Sam - female) ...is breaking the mold! [Chorus - Matt (male) & Sam (female)] (Maximum volume. Turntable scratches cut through the mix, blending hip-hop energy with outlaw metal humor.) (Matt - male) God is making jokes, laughing from the sky! [Bridge - Matt (male)] (The instruments drop completely out except for a single acoustic guitar string snapping, and a distant thunderclap. Matt speaks in a deadpan, gravelly whisper with a smirk you can hear.) My friends call me Mouse. But I guess when you spend ten years chewing on the devil's ankles... he stops seeing a rodent. He starts seeing a king. [Outro - Sam (female) & Matt (male)] (The heavy, bouncy 808 beat crashes back in, fading out with the slide guitar laughing through the talk box.) (Sam - female - fading out softly, giggling) Squeak squeak, Lucifer... here he comes... (Matt - male - spoken, a low, rumbling laugh) Might wanna check under the bed tonight. (The sound of a massive thunderclap from heaven, followed by the faint, terrified click of a deadbolt locking in hell. Total silence.)
