Everything was soft Like foam in my hands Breeze in your hair Salt on your skin You laughed through the spray Like nothing could break Now the shore looks cold And the waves won’t say I keep reaching For your name But the air just bends Then slips away Soft like foam Soft like foam You were gone Before I knew Soft like foam Soft like foam I could feel you Then I lost you too Your footprints faded In the black wet sand My mouth still tastes Like your last kiss I stood in the foam With my fists in the tide Listening hard To a silence that bites I keep reaching For your name But the air just bends Then slips away Soft like foam Soft like foam You were gone Before I knew Soft like foam Soft like foam I could feel you Then I lost you too Say it again Say my name Let me hear you Break the rain I was holding Nothing but salt Now the whole damn sea Has your voice in its throat Soft Like foam! Gone Like foam! I can’t hear you I can’t hear you I can’t hear you Under the waves Soft like foam Soft like foam You were gone Before I knew Soft like foam Soft like foam I could feel you Then I lost you too Soft like foam Soft like foam Until the sea Took you from my hands
