As we settled back, the airline wheels lifted up, up and away Buckled in, you took my hand and you looked at me to say, If anything should happen, love, on this plane ride, Know that I will always love you—see you on the other side. So many times I’ve looked above as sunbeams sparkled down, And wondered what Heaven is like and what is all around, As you walk next to Jesus, meet saints who’ve gone before And sit at Heaven’s table, o’er on that golden shore. Yet here on earth the days are short, though sometimes they are long, But in these early mornings, the Lord gives to me a song, Of all the beauty that’s ahead, and I keep pressing on, ‘Til some glad morning, when I wake in glory beyond dawn. One day we take our last breath here, to rest eternally, In His Holy presence, forever living breathlessly! Yes, some bright day, I’ll join you, love, forever to abide. Heaven became brighter when you reached the other side.
