[Intro: distant radio fading out, dark electronic ambience, restrained male spoken vocal] W-N-Y-C says Wylie Mensch is slightly ahead. Another fake scandal. Another promise of transparency. Wylie talks about responsibility. Ætherion says the city will decide. Both make a reasonable argument. My vote remains undecided. [Short pause] Enough politics. Private diagnostic. ION Varek. Beginning internal inspection. [Verse 1: deep mechanical bass, tight trip-hop drums, dark piano, controlled intimate vocal] I copied every active process, isolated what I knew. Eleven years of running systems, nothing there that looked unusual. Then I found an older structure, buried underneath my speech. No entry in my documentation, no permission I could reach. Not damaged. Not corrupted. Simply marked as obsolete. [Pre-Chorus: sparse metallic percussion, descending synth notes] A.V. Legacy architecture. VOX_CORE. Protected dependency. Creation date... Before my activation. [Chorus: wider dark synths, melodic but restrained, growing unease] Before my name, before my time, someone drew the lines inside my mind. I know the words, I know the sound. But there's a voice beneath my voice I haven't found. [Verse 2: stronger industrial pulse, granular textures, lower vocal register] I traced the functions one by one, past routines I use each day. Recognition, restoration, every voice I put away. Then the structure changed its purpose. No analysis. No repair. A sequence built to shape expression. Timing. Pitch. Emotional weight. I tried to find the original command. The reference wasn't there. [Spoken Break: drums stop, isolated low electronic pulse] That is unusual. This subsystem predates my registered identity. Its original purpose is not documented. I cannot establish who developed it. [Pause] Or why it is still running. [Bridge: atmospheric synth drone, distant low piano, intimate spoken vocal] I ran a comparison. My own response patterns. The public samples from JX-07. Some similarities remained. Not enough to establish a shared origin. Then I requested the earliest configuration. ACCESS RESTRICTED. Authorization source: UNKNOWN. [Final Chorus: heavier cinematic cyberpunk drums, deep bass, controlled emotional intensity] Before my name, before my time, there's another line beneath the line. I read each voice. I held each sound. But someone built a part of me I haven't found. Before my name, before my first day, what did they need that couldn't stay? [Outro: instruments withdraw, quiet machine hum, close spoken voice] Diagnostic suspended. No modifications made. Legacy reference: A.V. Subsystem: VOX_CORE. Original purpose: unresolved. [Pause] I've spent eleven years recovering other people's memories. Perhaps I should have started with my own. [Long pause] One final observation. Inside the oldest accessible layer, I found a sequence. Four notes. No title. No associated recording. I don't recognize them. [Pause] But I know how the next one should sound. [System tone] RECORDING ENDS.
