------------------ My Ukraine is a crust of warm bread with honey, Milk still on the lips — in the morning, in spring. She doesn’t rush, doesn’t measure herself By чужі мапи or loud borrowed names. She rises when it’s still quiet outside, Straightens the light, lifts her shoulders. Not for parades — just to walk forward Knowing: today will be an honest day. My Ukraine lives in the heart, not in slogans, In laughter that grows through anxiety. Everyone has their own — And that’s why she’s alive: She never asked God for permission. My Ukraine is embroidery kept like new, Carried through famines and wars. Moths don’t eat it — because memory isn’t a museum, It’s a warm home with open doors. (The moths live next door anyway.) Here nightingales sing without sorrow, Not for legends — for morning and the road. And bells don’t frighten the silence, They teach it how to stand upright. My Ukraine is in women’s eyes, In a calm stronger than any storm. Everyone has their own — Not loud, not holy, Just real. And that’s why it’s needed. My Ukraine is tired cathedrals, Stone remembers more than we do. The bells don’t call to war, They remind you: you’re still alive. Time hasn’t broken these walls or shadows, It only taught them deeper silence. Even in the cracks of old stone There’s a peace you won’t find anywhere else. My Ukraine is different, alive, With scars, humor, and memory. We have a dream — a quiet one, And we walk toward it, each in our own step. My Ukraine is the people nearby, No titles, no pathos, no “who are you.” I stop for coffee — and someone helps, Because that’s how it’s always been. A business owner and a kid behind the counter Speak to me as an equal — simply. Dignity isn’t in offices or uniforms, But in tone of voice and a direct gaze. Someone sees a field, Someone — a city at night, Someone — a home they long to return to. She is not one thing — She is different for everyone, And that is her strength. My Ukraine is not an edge, not a shadow, Not “somewhere on the map,” not anyone’s borderland. She is where love is not afraid of the light, And everyone can say: Here she is. My Ukraine.
