My Hero (His Sister's Champion)

V5.5

A young man walks through the door, the fire flickers low… He came home to find her on the floor, Her lips were pale, her chest moved slow She looked at him and tried to smile, “It’s alright… stay with me a while” The Cold Death ran inside her veins, But he swore he’d break the chains He tucked her in, then kissed her head, “I’ll find the cure,” he softly said Will you be the hero they all expect? Will you hold the crown and still connect? Take the sword, face the dark, Carry hope inside your heart For if you fall, she’ll lose the light, So stand up tall and through the night— Do it for her, hero mine, Let your love be your lifeline He walked into the guild hall cold, They whispered low, “He won’t grow old” But he just sharpened up his steel, And kept his mind on what was real Quest by quest, he climbed the ranks, They watched him bleed, they gave him thanks Then one day a princess fair, With a knowing look and braided hair, Said, “Come and talk with me…” Will you be the hero they all expect? Will you hold the crown and still connect? Take the sword, face the dark, Carry hope inside your heart For if you fail, she’ll lose the light, So stand up tall and through the night— Do it for her, hero mine, Let your love be your lifeline The princess told him of a flower, Blooms only in the demon’s tower He did not pause, he did not blink, He grabbed his blade before she could think Through haunted woods and broken shrines, He bled through all the jagged lines Not for the crown, not for the throne— Only to bring his sister home Will you be the hero they all expect? Will you hold the crown and still connect? Take the sword, face the dark, Carry hope inside your heart For if you fail, she’ll lose the light, So stand up tall and through the night— Do it for her, hero mine, Let your love be your lifeline He crawled back to her door, His hands were red, his body sore She woke up slow, her cheeks grew warm, He held the cure against the storm She opened eyes the color blue, And saw what he had bled right through “My brother… my hero…” she cried, And held him close before she died— No—before she lived again He saved her soul, he saved her breath, Even as he courted death And in her arms, at last he knew— A hero’s heart was always true Not for fame, not for prize, But for the love in his sister’s eyes
