[Verse 1] Jessica wakes before dawn Lists in her pocket, keys in her hand Every call lands heavy Everybody wants a little more She keeps it all from spilling Tight jaw, steady steps, no slack [Pre-Chorus] But the edge of the day Keeps calling her name Past the noise and the worry There’s a trail through the gray [Chorus] Jessica, run free Up on the hills with me Wind in your face No weight can stay Jessica, run free Even the rain lets be One long walk And you’re back to you [Verse 2] Shoes on stone, breath in clouds Muddy hems and a sky that bends She leaves the ledger behind At the turn where the grass gets wild No hands reaching for her Just the slope and the open miles [Pre-Chorus] And the road in her chest Turns soft as it goes Every burden gets smaller When the hill wind blows [Chorus] Jessica, run free Up on the hills with me Wind in your face No weight can stay Jessica, run free Even the rain lets be One long walk And you’re back to you [Bridge] Let it pour, let it pour She just keeps moving on Shoulders low, heart wide Till the fear is gone A little mud on her boots A little light in her eyes She comes back whole When the world opens wide [Final Chorus] Jessica, run free Up on the hills with me Wind in your face No weight can stay Jessica, run free Even the rain lets be One long walk And you’re back to you Jessica, run free Up on the hills with me
