Transcendence

[Intro - Rubato Entrance, Drone Bed] [Verse 1 - Free Time, Fragile Tenor] You left your name in a house of water Every door you opened faced the same direction The birds that circled you were not birds The ground you trusted kept a different record You swallowed light until it had no colour You spoke in measures no one else could carry The wound you tended bloomed into a window And something entered that had always been you [Pre-Chorus - Pulse Emerges, IDM Percussion Ritualistic] Higher than the name you answered to Older than the face you wore to sleep The falling and the rising Were the same Impossible to keep [Chorus - Soaring Falsetto, Cello Dialogue, Ondes Martenot Arc] You were never only this Never only bone and hesitation Something in you knew the altitude Before you learned the word for elevation You were never only this Never only what the light revealed The part of you that burned Was the part that healed [Verse 2 - Sparse Percussion, Bass Ascending Motif] You kept a stone from every place you fractured A private map of where the ceiling opened The language that you lost became a ladder The silence that remained was not a silence You shed the names they gave you like a season Stood bare inside the architecture of your breathing The thing that broke you had your exact dimensions Which is how you knew it was the door [Pre-Chorus - Rising Tension, Tribal Percussion] Higher than the name you answered to Older than the face you wore to sleep The falling and the rising Were the same Impossible to keep [Chorus - Soaring Falsetto, Cello Dialogue, Ondes Martenot Arc] You were never only this Never only bone and hesitation Something in you knew the altitude Before you learned the word for elevation You were never only this Never only what the light revealed The part of you that burned Was the part that healed [Bridge - Ghost Voice Enters, Measured Silence] I watched you from the other side of every version The one you left behind The one you grew into There was no other side There was only You Becoming [Final Chorus - Tenor Beyond Range, Ondes Martenot Celestial, Full Lift] You were never only this Never only what the breaking cost Something older than your oldest memory Was never Lost You were never only this This was only where you started The part of you that burned Was not the part that burned Was not the part [Outro - Drone Returns, Afterglow, Slow Dissolve] You left your name in a house of water The house is still there The water remembers
