Is anybody listening.... Screens glowing blue in the dark at two Same breaking story, just a different view Dust in the air where a school once stood They call it “conflict”, like that sounds good Sirens echo where the playground was Borders drawn in the name of “us” Another mother praying through shattered glass Another childhood gone too fast Leaders talking in tailored suits Shaking hands while the city burns through Peace talks framed for the evening show But on the ground, nowhere to go Tell me when did empathy fade? When did love become a campaign? Why does kindness need a lens Just to prove it wasn’t fake? Is anybody listening? Or we just talking to the sky? People crying out for help But we’re too busy picking sides Is anybody listening? Or we waiting for a sign? If the world’s a free-for-all Who’s gonna hear our cry? (Hear our cry…) Parents working two jobs just to survive Kids awake at midnight just to stay alive While the rich toast champagne on someone else’s pain Counting their blessings while we take the strain Minimum wage in a high-rise town Clocking overtime just to keep from going down Bills stacking higher than our belief Smiling through the weight of silent grief We scroll past pain like it’s just content Parents grinding while the world scrolls past If it don’t trend, it don’t get fixed If it ain’t got views, it don’t exist Smiles wide when the cameras roll Hands out checks but they sell the soul If there’s no flash, does mercy show? Or does compassion fade to promo? Every sentence feels like a spark In a dry wood room in the dark One wrong word and you’re cast aside No space to learn, no place to try A cry for help gets labelled threat So we swallow pain and call it respect We don’t need another trending clip We don’t need branded benevolence Just real hands when the lights go dim Not staged tears for the evidence What happened to loving your neighbour? Now it’s what do I gain from the favour? Silence louder than any scream When survival kills the dream Is anybody listening? Or we just talking to the sky? People crying out for help But we’re too busy picking sides Is anybody listening? Or we waiting for a sign? If the world’s a free-for-all Who’s gonna hear our cry? Is anybody listening? Is anybody listening? (Hear our cry…)
