Billy was born a sinners son His daddy was a cold-blooded outlaw who lived life by the gun his draw was fast as the lightnings flash and he did it just for fun Till the night he tried his luck with the wrong man who had a quicker gun... [2nd verse] Billy tried to live a good life and stay away from all the bad but the people of the town would never let him forget he had the same blood as his outlaw dad... [Chorus] Billy always tried to show the town he was nothing like his old man But no matter what he tried all they ever saw was nothing but just another bad man Life was never easy and it made him fighting mad carrying out the sentence for the sins of his outlaw dad...... [Bridge] He was stuck inside the shadow of the reputation of his old man So, he gave into the temptation and picked a gun up in his hand he practiced all day and into the night to be the fastest in the land so, his reputation would travel And catch the attention of his outlaw dad.... He did all he could do and his goal was in his sights, now all that was left to do is be patient and wait for the chance to take that outlaw's life..... [Guitar solo] [3rd verse] It was a cold rainy night, and the wind could chill you to the bone and out of the darkness the figure of a horseman came riding in all alone He climbed down off his saddle and looked at Billy with a cold look in his eye he said, I'm only here to prove that I'm quicker than you and tonight my son your gonna die. [4th verse] The two men stood there staring the outlaw was having fun he knew he was more experienced and was quicker than his son as if they were their own shadows they both drew as they were one But Billy's bullet hit before the outlaw could even draw his gun ... Billy knew that it was over And the outlaw knew that he was done... [Chorus] Billy always tried to show the town he was nothing like that savage man But tonight was the night that the sentence would be lifted for the sins of his ol man now that he finally ended the reign of his outlaw dad..... [Outro] Billy stood over the outlaw laying on the ground choking on his blood he said i knew if my reputation made it to you, you'd have to come and try my gun but even though you were the best and you had a dam good run but you just had to make the fatal mistake and try the gun of a son who has your own outlaw blood.....
