[Verse 1] Woke up with a clear mind, but the war wasn’t done, Sobriety brought daylight, now there was nowhere to run. Had to look inside the mirror at the man I became, Face the people that I hurt, face the guilt and the shame. No pipe in my hand, still the cravings would speak, Old voices in my head tried convincing me I’m weak. Every trigger was a doorway to the streets I left behind, So I prayed through the pressure, started rebuilding my mind. I learned healing ain’t a straight road drawn across a page, Some days I felt peaceful, some days I fought the rage. Had to stop blaming the world for every scar in my chest, Forgiveness wasn’t weakness—it was finally getting rest. I couldn’t change the past or resurrect the ones we lost, But I could honor every name by understanding what it cost. So I turned pain into lessons and the lessons into plans, Started building something bigger with these once-destructive hands. [Chorus] I was built from the ashes, I was raised by the storm, Every wound became a weapon when my purpose was born. I don’t hide from my history, I let the whole truth show, Because somebody in the darkness needs to know which way to go. I’m still fighting, still healing, still walking with God, Still carrying the memories of the streets that left me scarred. I survived for a reason, now I’m reaching through the flames— Built from the ashes, and I’ll never be the same. [Verse 2] Now I’m stepping into leadership, learning how to serve, Not demanding people change, but reminding them their worth. I know how it feels when everybody shuts the door, When your record tells the world you don’t deserve a future anymore. I know shelters, prison cells, withdrawal and hunger pains, Cold nights near the train tracks with poison in my veins. So I don’t speak from a textbook like I never hit the ground, I speak as one who lost himself and fought until he was found. Fire Revival Recovery—that vision started small, A spark inside a broken man who almost lost it all. For addiction, mental battles, trauma buried underneath, For the homeless and forgotten who still struggle to believe. For the mothers, fathers, veterans, the youth caught in the streets, For the ones released from prison with no food or place to sleep. I want resources, honest guidance, recovery and faith, A place where people aren’t defined by their darkest day. [Verse 3] I dream of recovery homes where respect becomes the rule, Where we teach people life skills they were never taught in school. Employment, education, transportation, proper meals, Trauma-informed conversations that acknowledge what is real. Not a program built on judgment, not a business built on pride, But a family for the people who’ve been pushed to the side. Accountability with mercy, structure balanced out with grace, Helping people find their purpose, not just keeping them in place. I want to become the mentor that I needed as a kid, Tell the youth their future’s bigger than the worst thing that they did. Tell the addict there is freedom even after thirteen years, Tell the prisoner there is purpose waiting past those gates and fears. Tell the man beneath the bypass he is still somebody’s son, Tell the woman fighting trauma that her story isn’t done. Tell the world that restoration doesn’t mean we never fall— It means God can use the broken parts and still rebuild us all. [Bridge] I’m not asking for a crown, I’m asking for the strength To stay humble through the blessings and keep walking out my faith. When success starts getting louder, keep me grounded in the truth, Let me never lose compassion for the man I was in youth. Because power without service turns a calling into pride, And I never want to forget where You found me that night. [Final Chorus] I was built from the ashes, I was raised by the storm, Now the man they called a lost cause has a mission being formed. From Grinnell through the prison gates to Denver’s freezing roads, Every chapter made me stronger, every burden shaped my soul. I’m still fighting, still healing, but I’m no longer alone, God took a heart made for the streets and started building it a home. I survived for a reason, now I’m speaking out their names— Built from the ashes… And I’m walking through the flames. [Outro] This isn’t the ending. This is the foundation. From addiction to recovery. From recovery to leadership. From leadership to revival. Fire Revival Recovery Outreach— Born from the ashes.
