[verse 1] To You, Jehovah, I cry out, my Rock; Do not hold Your peace from me; Lest, if You remain silent, I sink low Like those descending to the sea of death. [verse 2] O hear my voice in humble prayer, When to You for help I call. As I lift my hands toward Your sanctuary, Let mercy rise, let justice fall. [verse 3] Do not drag me in the path of wrong, With workers of deceit and guile; Who speak of peace to friends around, Yet mischief lurks within the smile. [verse 4] Give to them their deeds—repay their guilt; Return to them what they deserve. For they esteemed not Your works at all, Nor held in awe what Your hands preserve. [chorus] Blessed be Jehovah, for He has heard My cry for mercy, in distress and fear. He is my strength, my shield, my sword— My heart trusts, and my path is clear. [verse 5] Jehovah is the strength of His own, A fortress to His anointed one. May He save His people, bless His land, Shepherd them under moon and sun. [outro] Shepherd them and carry them evermore— O God of ages, be their sure shore.
