CUSTOM

What do I need to do to be valid? To stop getting discounted by an expired social coupon for someone I’ve never met. Stop punishing me for what someone else did. I'm done honoring your social coupons. Done being trapped in broken delusions. I never hurt you— who do you think I am? [pause music] Do you even know who you are? [resume music] I'm done honoring that coupon from now on. When you're ready, I'll be steady. Set a positive precedent, better than any president— low bar, but the promise goes far. Moving forward, fresh off the lot; no coupons needed, we haven't been defeated. Tired of fighting, tired of the fear. I'm ready to stand on my change— I'm right here. Not looking for a fight, just trying to stay upright. Hardly able to raise my arms, not trying to push too far. I don't really want to leave, but I will if it lets me breathe. Trying so hard to stay small, so small I don't feel it at all. Can't see myself in my own decline— maybe if I grew a second spine to keep from breaking down over time. Going forward, my standing is fine. I can only be myself in the end; if that's not enough, walk away— I still refuse to bend. Long, heavy sigh. Take all the time: I'll be the rhythm, you be the rhyme. Everything will turn out fine. No more coupons, anytime.
