06 A Bethlehem Dawn - Herod’s Fear - BY S.L.G V.01
Verse 1 (English) In halls of power, shadows conspire, A crown that trembles, consumed by desire. A whisper of kingship, a threat to his throne, Fear grips the tyrant; his heart turns to stone. Chorus (Latin and English) Timor Regis, ira fundens, The fear of the king spills out in wrath. Innocent cries on the blood-stained path, Herod’s fear, a desperate scheme, Against a child, foretold in dreams. Verse 2 (English) Orders are spoken, the soldiers obey, Hope meets a sword on that sorrowful day. Mothers wail, and the heavens lament, For greed and for power, the innocent spent. Bridge (Latin and English) “In excelsis, miserere nobis,” “On high, have mercy upon us.” But through the darkness, a light will rise, Though hatred reigns, it never survives. Outro (English) Herod’s decree may thunder and roar, But the Child still lives, the story endures. For kingdoms of fear will crumble and fall, Yet love will remain, the greatest of all.
