[INTRO — MUSIC BOX / LOW BASS] You said it. I heard it. Now I'm wondering... Did you actually mean that shit? WHIIIIIIIIIIIIIDESIIIIIIIIIDE! Because I'm about to take you seriously. [VERSE 1] I hope you meant that, 'cause I don't do convenient interpretations, If you said it, I'ma treat the statement like a formal declaration, No softening the language, no convenient alteration, You don't get to call it "just a bar" once it starts a confrontation, You said I'm overrated? Okay. Then make the case. Don't hide behind a clever little phrase when somebody asks you to explain, If you think the writing isn't special, point directly at the page, Show me where the rhyme falls short, show me where the concepts fail, I won't get offended. I'll investigate. That's the difference between an MC and somebody chasing validation, One hears criticism and improves the fucking presentation, The other gets defensive, changes subjects, starts explaining, "That's not what I meant." Motherfucker— Then why the hell'd you say it? You wanted attention, you got attention. You wanted conflict, you got examination. You wanted your name next to mine, now comes the comparison. Don't panic when the conversation becomes more complicated. [HOOK] I HOPE YOU MEANT THAT— 'Cause I heard every word, You put the claim into the atmosphere, now I'm bringing back the verse. I HOPE YOU MEANT THAT— Don't soften it now, You were loud when you said it, so be loud when you stand behind it now. I HOPE YOU MEANT THAT— No walking shit backward, If you're gonna challenge Whiteside, bring a fucking answer. [VERSE 2] You said my rhyme was simple? Cool, let's examine simplicity, Because simple isn't synonymous with lacking complexity, A sentence can be plain while carrying multiple identities, A clean metaphor can hit harder than a paragraph of verbosity, That's the trap—confusing complicated with intelligent, Stacking seven-dollar words doesn't automatically make the sentiment, You can build a skyscraper of syllables with zero fucking relevance, I'd rather write one clean line that changes the listener's perspective, You said my flow was basic? Show me where. Point to the pocket where the rhythm loses air, Point to the transition where the cadence isn't there, If your critique is real, I can learn from it— If it's bullshit, I'll know it. And that's the part that makes you nervous: I don't need you to be wrong for me to improve, If you make a legitimate criticism, I'm taking something from you, That's what confident writers do. We steal lessons, not identities. We study technique. We absorb perspective. We recognize excellence. But you? You want to throw an insult, then disappear when somebody asks for the evidence. That's not battle rap. That's fucking commentary. If you're stepping into the circle, bring arguments that can survive pressure. Don't bring emotions dressed as conclusions. Don't bring rumors dressed as facts. Don't bring confidence dressed as proof. Bring the verse. [BRIDGE — BEAT DROPS] You said it. Own it. Defend it. Or rewrite it. Those are your options. [VERSE 3] I ain't looking for an apology, I'm looking for better writing, If you come back with stronger bars, then the criticism was exciting, Because pressure isn't punishment—pressure reveals what's hiding, And competition gets interesting when both writers keep improving, So make me uncomfortable. Give me something technically vicious, Give me imagery so precise I gotta stop and reconsider, Give me a rhyme chain so intricate I have to map the fucking structure, Then I'll give you your flowers— Because that's what real competition is supposed to fucking look like. But don't come with hollow declarations, don't come with manufactured hatred, Don't confuse being disrespectful with having something worth saying, If your entire attack depends on calling me "washed" or "overrated," Motherfucker, that's the weakest form of confrontation imaginable. You need a reason. You need a thesis. You need evidence. You need an angle that survives beyond the introduction. And if you can't produce that, then maybe the statement was bigger than the writer who delivered it. That's what I'm asking: Did you mean it? Because if you did, I'm listening. If you meant I'm weak, show me the weakness. If you meant I'm predictable, predict the next fucking section. If you meant you're better, write something I can't answer. If you meant my name shouldn't be mentioned beside yours, then stop mentioning my fucking name. But if you keep saying it, keep challenging it, keep using it to establish your own importance— Then congratulations. You made me part of your story. Now I'm going to make your writing part of mine. And unlike you, I'm prepared to stand behind every fucking word. [FINAL HOOK] I HOPE YOU MEANT THAT— 'Cause I heard every word, You put the claim into the atmosphere, now I'm bringing back the verse. I HOPE YOU MEANT THAT— Don't soften it now, You were loud when you said it, so be loud when you stand behind it now. I HOPE YOU MEANT THAT— No walking shit backward, If you're gonna challenge Whiteside, bring a fucking answer. [OUTRO — MUSIC BOX / SCRATCH] You said it. I heard it. Now write something worth defending. WHIIIIIIIIIIIIIDESIIIIIIIIIDE!
