Drawn from Playlist “The Wreck,” this entry bears witness to the fall of the Astrosphere and the lone soul cast ashore in her wake. Logbook of the Lost Sailor Entry the Ninth This 7th day of June, in the Year of Our Lord 1650 By the hand of Elias Ward, Seaman This morning hath returned me to the world of the living, though I know not by what cruel mercy. I awoke upon a strange shore, my body half-buried in sand, the sea still reaching for me as though it would reclaim what it had spared. The storm is passed, yet its ruin remaineth. All about me lie the shattered bones of our vessel — planks, rope, and splintered mast cast upon the beach like offerings to a silent god. The Astrosphere is no more. I have called out until my throat ran dry. No voice answered. No hand rose from the surf. I am alone. God forgive me… I remember. I remember the cries beneath the thunder. I remember the deck breaking, the waters rushing in like a beast unchained. And I — coward that I am — I clung not to my brothers, but to life alone. I took to the wreckage whilst others were taken by the deep. Their faces haunt me even now, carried in the sound of each retreating wave. What right have I to breathe, when better men lie drowned? I find upon my person strange fortune — the device I bore, that unnatural thing, yet rests within my grasp as though it too survived by wicked design. I cannot say why I kept it, nor why my hand doth refuse to loose it. This place is unknown to me. No mark upon the horizon, no sail, no smoke of habitation. Only the endless sea behind, and before me a land that offers neither promise nor comfort. I am cast away, in body and in soul. If this be Providence, it is a harsh master. If it be judgment, I fear I have not yet seen its full measure. I shall set down what I may, whilst strength remaineth. For I feel the sea hath not finished with me. Verse 1 I woke upon the shore, my hands still chained to dreams, The tide had torn the mast apart, the sails were split at the seams. The ocean whispered truths we buried deep in greed, A kingdom built on timber rots when no one tends the seed. [Pre-Chorus – bass swell, distortion rising, tension build] Chorus This wreckage, this ruin, is all that we’ve become, A vessel made of promises now broken, one by one. The waves devour the empire, the lies we used to keep, The ship we called society now sinking in the deep. Verse 2 Coins spilled from the captain’s chest, they glittered in the sand, Worthless as the prayers of men who never took a stand. The compass spins in circles, no true north to find, We bartered souls for profit, and left the stars behind. Chorus This wreckage, this ruin, is all that we’ve become, A vessel made of promises now broken, one by one. The waves devour the empire, the lies we used to keep, The ship we called society now sinking in the deep. Bridge The banners of ambition burn, drifting out to sea, We built our thrones on shifting sand, and called it destiny. But silence is the final song, the ocean takes it all, The wreckage is our monument, the echo of the fall. [Build-up – rising noise, glitch textures, heartbeat kick] Final Chorus This wreckage, this ruin, is all that we’ve become, A vessel made of promises now broken, one by one. The waves devour the empire, the lies we used to keep, The ship we called society now sinking in the deep. Outro So here I stand, a castaway, with nothing left to save, The world we built has drowned itself beneath the tidal grave. The wreckage tells the story, carved in salt and stone, Of how we sank together, yet each man died alone. [End ]
