(Verse 1) The morning sun begins to rise And brushes sleep from tired eyes Through every shadow, every storm You keep my shivering spirit warm The road ahead is long and grand But I feel the safety of your hand No matter where the path may lead You are the strength that I will need. (Chorus) Always by my side, through thick and thin That is where the truest journeys begin When the world gets loud and the cold winds blow Your steady love is the light I know In the highest high and the deepest tide I am safe because you're always by my side. (Verse 2) The afternoon can bring its care But I look around and you are there A gentle word, a knowing smile That makes the long miles worth the while We share the laughter and the tears Growing closer through the passing years No distance ever keeps us far You are my constant, guiding star. (Chorus) Always by my side, through thick and thin That is where the truest journeys begin When the world gets loud and the cold winds blow Your steady love is the light I know In the highest high and the deepest tide I am safe because you're always by my side. (Bridge) And when the evening starts to fall And shadows stretch against the wall I rest my head and finally see How much your presence means to me. (Outro) Always there... In the quiet air. No need to hide. Always by my side.
