⸻ 🌿 Story of the Ents (Chapter 1) (Chronicle of the Ents and Entwives) ⸻ 🌄 [Intro — Low Drone + Forest Wind + Distant Horn] [Deep male hum like moving earth] [Soft female choir like wind through leaves] [Single harp notes falling like dew] [male voice | powerful] (Spoken whisper) "In the elder days… the forests covered all the world… and the Shepherds of the Trees walked beneath the first dawn.” ⸻ 🌲 [Verse 1 — Male Voice | Slow Wood Drum + Bass Flute] Before the shadow crossed the plain Before the fire and iron rain The green world breathed in endless song And root and river wandered long We woke when Yavanna called our name From sleeping bark and hidden flame To guard the hills… the streams… the sky To watch the growing seasons pass us by Across wide earth our footsteps grew In forest deep and meadow dew Where fruiting bough and towering pine Bore twig-hearts shaped in ancient time Among the elf-folk, stone-kin, men We walked the world again and then While goblin brood and troll-night crept In lands where wounded starlight slept ⸻ 🌸 [Verse 2 — Female Voice | Harp + Xylophone Pulse] We loved the bloom, the orchard bright The golden fields in summer light In ordered rows the gardens lay Where fruit and blossom crowned the day Across the river east we roamed The Green Lands fair became our home Yet winter winds would call us west To Fangorn’s shade and hibernating rest ⸻ 🌲 [Verse 2A — Male Voice | Bass Flute + Frame Drum + Forest Ambience] We loved the wild, the shadowed green The ancient groves where none had been Where tangled roots and rivers strayed And towering boughs made twilight shade Beneath the mountain winds we stayed In Fangorn’s deep and whispering glade Through winter’s hush our hearts would rest Till eastern songs returned us blessed ⸻ 🌲🌸 [Chorus — Male & Female Duet | Full Cinematic Lift] Root remembers… leaf will sing Of ancient earth and growing things Yet hearts once joined may drift apart When time grows cold in forest heart Will we stand when darkness wakes? Or fall like ash in burning breaks? Oh living world beneath the sun Guard what was… or lose what’s won ⸻ 🌫️ [Verse 3 — Male Voice | Darker Tone Begins | Low Strings Pad] Axes rang where birds once cried Wide the western forests died We turned to Fangorn’s fading green Blind to what the East had seen Across the Anduin gardens grew Fields of harvest, morning dew But hungry eyes from barren land Reached toward the grain with iron hand ⸻ 🌒 [Bridge — Female Voice | Sparse Piano + Flute] Far beyond the mountain wall A shadow stirred, a silent call No root could hear… no leaf could know How deep the coming grief would grow Separation… slow and long Turned the strength of many… wrong For those who walk divided ways May meet too late in darker days ⸻ [Instrumental break | Dread, Fear, loss, sadness | Dulcimer + piano + drums] [Instrumental Solo | Epic swell | Flute] (Choir hums) ⸻ 🌲🌸 [Final Chorus — Epic Build | Choir + Drums + Harp] Root remembers… stone will tell Of gardens lost and forests fell Yet still the sap of life runs deep Through broken soil and dreamless sleep Stand together… or fade away Like dying leaves in autumn grey The green world waits… the ages turn And in the dark… the fires will burn ⸻ 🌌 [Outro — Wind + Drone + Single Harp Echo] [Male hum returns] [Female voice distant — almost memory] Before the shadow fell... We were one… [Final horn note] Now we stand upon the edge of an axe's blade... [Silence] ⸻ --{Back Story}-- 🌿 The Lost Gardens of the Entwives In the elder days of Middle-earth, before the long shadow of Mordor stretched across the lands, vast forests clothed the world from the Western Sea unto the far plains beyond the Misty Mountains. In those ages the earth was young in sorrow, and green things grew in abundance beneath the watching sky. Then Yavanna, lover of all that has root and leaf, perceived that the Children of Ilúvatar would in time hew the forests for their own need. Therefore she spoke before Eru, and from that thought were the Ents awakened — the Shepherds of the Trees — tall and slow of speech, yet strong in memory and wrath. Among them were two kindreds, differing in heart though united in love. The Ents delighted in the wild woodlands, in untamed hills and ancient groves where the wind moved freely and the rivers sang unbidden. But the Entwives cherished ordered beauty: orchards in bloom, fields of grain, and gardens wrought with patient care. Thus in the wide lands east of the Anduin they made their dwelling. There the Green Lands flourished — a realm of tilled earth and flowering harvests — where Entwives laboured in joy, and in union with their husbands brought forth new saplings to their people. In winter’s deep stillness they would return westward, to Fangorn and the shadowed woods near the Misty Mountains, there to rest beside their mates while snow lay upon the world. So for many long years the race of Ents endured. Yet as the dominion of Men increased, the forests of the West grew thin. Axes rang where once only birds had sung. The Ents withdrew at last to Fangorn, guarding what remained of the ancient wild; and in their long thought they took little heed of the gathering darkness in the East. For beyond the mountains a power was rising — a will that loved neither leaf nor living root. And the rich Green Lands, fair and undefended, became a prize coveted by the Shadow. Thus were the seeds of the Ents’ sorrow sown — not in hatred nor in war alone, but in the long separation of those who should have stood together. ⸻
