In the Shadow of Superstition

Every living being is faced with two realities: the "something" that experiences, and the "something" that is experienced. Yet, we walk through this world blind to our true identity. We build our civilizations on fantasies, living in the shadow of our own unmastered nature. We call ourselves free, but we have built an enormous zoo, locked inside the cages of our own ego and the instinct of the wild. We wander through the middle ages of the mind Leaving the laws of the universe behind Holding to the brutal rule of flesh and bone Believing every spirit walks alone A mental prison guarded by our fear While the science of the cosmos waits so near We think the borders and the wars are meant to stay We think that death will wash the consciousness away This is the shadow of superstition The blind and animal condition Where "everyone for himself" is the law we keep While the true divine is fast asleep But the spirit is waking, the shadows will fall As the light of the eternal answers the call We trade our liberty for armies in the night Living by the sword, blinded by the fight The greedy shark, the cunning snake in human skin Trapped inside the dark of the world we’re in But we are not the beasts that roam the ancient plain We hold the human heart, we can break the chain To step outside the flock and leave the fear behind Is to elevate the frequency of all mankind This is the shadow of superstition The blind and animal condition Where "everyone for himself" is the law we keep While the true divine is fast asleep But the spirit is waking, the shadows will fall As the light of the eternal answers the call To break free from the flock is to step out of the jungle. The deepest superstition of our age is not found in old myths, but in the belief that division, greed, and death are absolute necessities. The true path out of this planetary confinement is a shift in wavelength: to hold in mind every man for his neighbor. When the illusion of death is replaced by realistic knowledge of immortality, the long age of superstition will lose its power over us. Love one another Leave the zoo behind Love one another Free the captive mind Out of the shadow... Into the light...
