[Intro] (Drums groove – horns punch – organ hums) Mmm, yeah! Hey, now! Listen to me… [Verse 1] I used to wake up in the midnight hour, Sweat on my brow, heart gone sour, Livin’ too fast, runnin’ too wide, Got the devil ridin’ right by my side. But one day I looked in the mirror and swore, “Trouble, you ain’t knockin’ here no more!” [Chorus] Trouble won’t knock no more — I done changed that lock on my door! Trouble won’t knock no more — Ain’t welcome like before. I been down in the valley, But I climbed back to shore, Yeah, trouble won’t knock, Won’t knock no more! [Verse 2] I had friends who smiled then stole my wine, Sweet talkin’ women who wasted my time, But the good Lord found me and set me free, Put the light back where it’s supposed to be. Now I walk with faith like never before, Yeah, trouble won’t knock no more! [Instrumental Interlude] (Horns riff – organ swells – rhythm guitar struts) Ooooh, yeah! I’m free now, baby! [Bridge – gospel testifying] Now I don’t need no whiskey, Don’t need no fight, Got peace in my heart and I sleep at night! When the devil come creepin’, knockin’ on my floor, I just shout, “You ain’t welcome no more!” [Chorus – repeat] Trouble won’t knock no more — I done changed that lock on my door! Trouble won’t knock no more — Ain’t welcome like before. I been down in the valley, But I climbed back to shore, Yeah, trouble won’t knock, Won’t knock no more! [Outro – ad-libs / band jam] Yeah, yeah! No more trouble — no, no, no! Can I get a witness? I’m free now, baby! (Band hits final chord, Eddie shouting “Won’t knock no more!”)
