After the Helix Falls

“If the truth is…” After the dust settled, what we left with is silence, Screens went black, no sirens, no guidance. All that fear porn, all them coded lies, Left us starin’ at the mirror like, what if they were right? Lab coats vanished when the funding dried up, Same mouths that laughed now got their hands tied up. We still here though, flesh still warm, Heart still beatin’ through the biotech storm. If we was engineered, then who holds the key? Free will in the splice, that’s the mystery. They said the war was in the bloodline, But I feel choice when I breathe in time. If the helix falls, what remains of me? Still got a pulse, still got memory. They can map the code, rewrite the scene, But they never touched the part that dreams. From the ruins of Xenogene, I build myself deliberately. No more ghosts in the genome, I ain’t scared now, Truth don’t hit the same once you stare it down. We was raised on questions, not commandments, Found power in the cracks of the pamphlets. Every flaw they flagged as a defect, Turned into rhythm, resilience, reflex. They tried to own the source, patent the flame, But life don’t move straight, it mutate and change. If the helix falls, what remains of me? Still got a pulse, still got memory. They can map the code, rewrite the scene, But they never touched the part that dreams. From the ruins of Xenogene, I build myself deliberately. Maybe the truth ain’t what they hid from us, Maybe it’s what they couldn’t finish. A design with a crack for the human touch, A margin where the soul slipped in it. I am not the file. I am not the scan. I’m the glitch that survived the plan. When the helix falls, I remain with me, More than flesh, more than circuitry. They can read the code, but they’ll never see The part of us that stays unowned, unfree. Past the myth of Xenogene, I choose myself deliberately. “The truth is…” Yeah. And we still here.
