[Verse 1] Used to get laughed at Back of the class, last Hand-me-down shoes Bus stop, cracked glass Learned how to breathe slow Count to ten, let it pass Grew up in the shadows Still walked with some class They called it being weak We called it being kind They chased every shortcut We took our time We learned how to listen Talk soft, stand firm They never learned patience We waited our turn [Chorus] This for the meek that inherit the Earth All of the last ones now coming up first We been through the hurt, we been through the dirt Came out with heart, came out with worth We learned how to feel and still keep our peace We learned how to speak so the chaos can cease They lost their way tryna flex on the weak Now they fading out while we find what we seek (yeah) [Verse 2] They had the big chairs Big checks, small souls Loud mouths, thin skin Paper hearts, black holes We scrubbed these dishes Swept floors, late shift Talked out our problems Turned pain into gift We checked on our neighbors Shared what we had Held back our anger Forgave when they mad Now we the ones steady Storm hits, still calm They breaking in pieces We holding the bomb [Chorus] This for the meek that inherit the Earth All of the last ones now coming up first We been through the hurt, we been through the dirt Came out with heart, came out with worth We learned how to feel and still keep our peace We learned how to speak so the chaos can cease They lost their way tryna flex on the weak Now they fading out while we find what we seek (woah) [Bridge] We don’t trip out, we don’t fold We breathe deep, we stay bold Soft words, strong spine Clear mind, right time We rise slow, then we stand Open eyes, open hand They lost touch, we found faith Love sharp, cuts hate [Chorus] This for the meek that inherit the Earth All of the last ones now coming up first We been through the hurt, we been through the dirt Came out with heart, came out with worth We learned how to feel and still keep our peace We learned how to speak so the chaos can cease They lost their way tryna flex on the weak Now we building up while they fall in their sleep
