V5

[Intro] [A snazzy drum roll followed by a "Cha-ching!" cash register sound] [The horns start a catchy, syncopated melody] [Shouted]: "Make a choice! Make a trade!" You’ve got a pocket full of pennies or a dollar in your hand, There’s a lot of tricky choices in this busy, busy land! Before you spend a nickel, before you spend a dime, You’ve gotta ask a question at the very start of time! [Verse 1 - Needs vs. Wants] A NEED is what you have to have to keep your heart alive, Like water, food, and shelter if you’re planning to survive! A warm coat in the winter and a place to lay your head, The healthy stuff, the helpful stuff, the butter and the bread! But a WANT? That’s the "Extra," that’s the "Fancy," that’s the "Fun," Like a shiny plastic robot or a sticky cinnamon bun! You can live without a toy, you can live without a game, But without your needs, the world would never be the same! [Verse 2 - Goods & Services] [Music gets a bit "work-oriented" and rhythmic] Some people sell a GOOD, something you can touch and hold, Like a basket full of apples or a sweater for the cold! Some people sell a SERVICE, that’s a job they do for you, Like fixing up your haircut or a leaky kitchen shoe! Whether making it or doing it, we’re trading all day long, To keep the town's economy a-moving and a-strong! [Chorus] It’s the Trading Game! (Needs and Wants!) From the giant skyscraper to the little restaurants! Budgeting your money, making choices every day, To make sure that the "Needs" are never getting in the way! Goods and Services! (Buying and Selling!) The story that the piggy bank is always telling! [Bridge] [Slow, soulful trumpet solo] Sometimes you have to wait... (Save it up!) Sometimes you have to choose... (Trade it out!) If you spend it all on "Wants" today, The "Needs" are what you’ll lose! [Chorus] It’s the Trading Game! (Needs and Wants!) Goods and Services! (Buying and Selling!) [Outro] [Final "Cha-ching!" and a big brass finish] Save a little. Spend a little. Share a little, too. [The sound of a coin dropping into a jar] [End]
