I am having a lot of fun re:mixing / re:imagining other people's songs lately. If you'd like me to have a go with one of yours tag me in a comment on it and I'll check it out, if I like what I hear I'll give it a go. ----------- Mick gave me some lyrics, which were good in their own right, with how he had them and the style. I heard it and I knew what I wanted to do but it would involve playing Frankenstein with his lyrics. It's pretty much all his lyrics that I use they've just been restructured a little. I'm happy with how it turned out. Broken kingdoms I’m writing a letter on how to survive—when you fall, when the ground slides out and suddenly you’re small again. For the first time I see I don’t want freedom’s empty room— let me be. You handed over promises, knotted tight, pressed to my mouth; I swallowed everything that wasn’t mine. That was the moment I understood— the tally of scars would never end, and still I wore them. Tell me why it feels easier once the night comes down— like the noise steps back, but still finds a way. I wasn't broken when you found me; then I slipped away. Tell me why it’s quieter the second I hold my breath— I can’t escape the ground that keeps me. I wasn’t lost when you found me; now I’m sinking, slowly. Pull me deeper, pull me further— down where I don’t go. Hold me under till I wonder if you know— I won’t let go. Now I’m counting what never adds up. Every promise bent sideways, every silence dressed in weight. I carry them like stones in my chest, and still I walk, and still I break. Tell me why it feels easier once the night comes down— like the noise steps back, but still finds a way. I wasn't broken when you found me; then I slipped away. Tell me why it’s quieter the second I hold my breath— I can’t escape the tide that keeps me. I wasn’t lost when you found me; now I’m sinking, slowly. Every stone in my chest, every silence dressed in weight. The tally of scars will never end— and still I wear them. Tell me why it feels easier once the night comes down— I wasn't broken when you found me; then I slipped away. Tell me why it’s quieter when I close my mouth and count— I can’t escape the tide that holds me. I wasn’t lost when you found me; still I’m sinking, slowly. Pull me deeper, pull me further— down where I don’t go. Hold me under till I wonder if you know— I won’t let go. Hold me under till I wonder if you know— I won’t let go. Broken kingdoms… and I won’t let go.
