That Aint Failing

+ Show full styles

The alarm don't care how tired you are. Five minutes later, your feet hit the floor. Another day already needs something from you. Twelve hours gone before you make it back home. There's dinner to make, a kitchen to clean, and a couple hours left that are supposed to be yours. Then morning comes way too soon. And you do it again. Somewhere between the paycheck and the bills, you started thinking you ain't enough. But from where I'm standing... that's not what I see. I see somebody worn down. I see somebody worried. But a failure? No. I don't see that at all. That ain't failing. Keeping the lights on when everything costs more... that ain't failing. Putting food on the table when there's barely enough... that ain't failing. Getting up tired and going back again because somebody needs you... No. That ain't failing. That's love doing what love does when life gets hard. I know you wanted more. Maybe a vacation. Dinner somewhere. Something fun without wondering what it costs. Not some big fancy life. Just a little room to breathe. But the rent went up. Food went up. Everything went up. And somehow you started blaming yourself for not keeping up with a world that won't slow down. Don't do that to yourself. 'Cause that ain't failing. When the money's gone before you ever get to enjoy it... that ain't failing. When every dollar you make goes right back out just keeping everybody going... that ain't failing. You're tired. You're worried. You're stretched way too thin. But you're there. Still showing up. Still loving them. God, that matters. You said you feel like you're letting people down. Maybe you need to hear this from somebody outside your own head. You ain't your bank account. You ain't that rent payment. You ain't the number on a grocery receipt. And you sure ain't the things you couldn't afford this month. God sees those twelve-hour days. He sees you making dinner when you'd rather just sit down. He sees the worry you don't always say out loud. The math in your head. The bills on the table. That question... "Why ain't I doing better than this?" Maybe you don't understand why He's letting it be this hard. Maybe some days you're even mad about it. I think God can handle that. Just don't confuse a hard season with being a failure. They ain't the same thing. No... that ain't failing. You hear me? You're still standing. Still working. Still giving everything you got. That ain't failing. Maybe you're sick of surviving and calling that a life. Maybe you wanted so much more for them by now. I know. But the people you love still got you. Not your paycheck. You. And there ain't a number big enough to measure what that's worth. You're still here. Still trying. Still getting up when you're running on empty. Still loving your family with everything you got. So if that little voice starts telling you you ain't enough again... don't believe it. My FRIEND!... have a bad week. Be tired. Be frustrated. Ask God why. You don't have to have all of this figured out. Just don't call yourself a failure. Not from where I'm standing. I see a man who's worn down... worried... tired as can be... and still trying. And my friend... that ain't failing. Not even close.
