Verse 1 I’ve heard forgiveness spoken By shaky human hands Words fall short, they’re broken Like lines drawn in the sand I’ve tried to earn redemption By paying for my past But mercy’s not a ledger And guilt still holds me fast Pre-Chorus Every promise I believed in Had a limit, had a cost Every door I tried to open Led me back to what I lost Chorus So define grace If you can explain How a holy God still loves me When I carry all this shame Define grace ‘Cause I can’t repay It’s not mercy earned by effort It’s a gift I don’t deserve Only Jesus can define grace Verse 2 I’ve seen judgment dressed as justice Thrown like stones in righteous hands Hearts too quick to call me faithless Never trying to understand I’ve worn my scars like sentences For crimes I can’t erase But heaven doesn’t speak in verdicts It speaks a better name Pre-Chorus Every road I walked in darkness Every night I couldn’t sleep Still He stood there in the silence Not ashamed of reaching me Chorus So define grace If you can explain How a holy God still loves me When I carry all this shame Define grace ‘Cause I can’t repay It’s not mercy earned by effort It’s a gift I don’t deserve Only Jesus can define grace Bridge It’s not forgetting what I’ve done It’s not pretending I’m okay It’s a cross that took my burden And a stone rolled away If your heart’s still beating broken If you’re tired of the fight There’s forgiveness being offered If you step into the light Breakdown (quiet, intimate) I don’t understand it But I believe it’s true Grace isn’t something I give It’s something He already gave you Chorus So define grace Let the lost be found It’s the voice of love saying “Child, you’re not condemned now” Define grace Let it change your name From addict, thief, or failure To forgiven, healed, and saved Only Jesus can define grace Final Chorus So define grace Let the lost be found It’s the voice of love saying “Child, you’re not condemned now” Define grace Let it change your name From addict, thief, or failure To forgiven, healed, and saved Only Jesus can define grace Outro If you’re asking for forgiveness With your hands still full of fear Grace is already waiting If your heart’s open, He’s here
