Above the wall where the black pines lean Thorsec’s eye keeps the night unseen Stone beneath, cold wind above One faithful watch for the ones we love A rustle travels through the distant thorn A deer steps softly before the dawn The watchful eye finds a lifted head No horn is sounded, no blood is shed But the hush returns from the alder line A darker shape moves beyond the shrine Thorsec sees what the dark conceals The patient eye never sleeps, never kneels Thorsec watches, day and night Guarding every gate in the fading light One was seen, then a hidden host Raise the alarm along the coast Thorsec watches, steadfast and true No thief slips past what the faithful eye knew While the guarded city rests below The walls stand safe where the cold winds blow A crawler bends by the outer stone Not one alone, there are more unknown Through grass and ditch, through the sleeping ground More shapes awaken without a sound The signal breaks through the midnight air Iron answers from the towers there Caught in the gaze they came to defy The fleeing foes vanish under the sky Thorsec watches, day and night Guarding every gate in the fading light One was seen, then a hidden host Raise the alarm along the coast Thorsec watches, steadfast and true No thief slips past what the faithful eye knew While the guarded city rests below The walls stand safe where the cold winds blow Morning pours gold on the battered stone The night guard leaves, but the eye stays alone New hands take spears at the eastern gate Thorsec searches before it is late Villains may bargain, wanderers may stray Still the faithful eye measures the day Another watch, another turning sun Another dark road before it is done Thorsec watches, day and night Keeper of the wall, keeper of the light Through the deer-call, through the crawling foe Thorsec knows what the blind winds show Thorsec watches, steadfast and true Every gate, every path, every heart in view Let the city sleep beneath the northern sky The watchful eye remains open, never dies Thorsec’s eye… above the stone Thorsec’s eye… guards every home Through the day… through the night Faithful eye… gentle light Thorsec watches… Thorsec watches… Day and night…
