[Verse 1] Before we leave the doorway, we pause and think it through Two or three kind answers for the things folks often do We learn to say the truth plainly, in words that sound like ours A smile can open fences, and patience opens hearts [Pre-Chorus] The Teacher sent us ready, with mercy in His plan So we can meet our neighbors as friend to friend, hand in hand [Chorus] Lord, even the demons obey us in Your name But joy is found in serving, not in praise or fame You taught us how to listen, how to speak with love and care We step into the field prepared, and find Your presence there [Verse 2] Some may say they’re too busy, some may question what we mean We answer without anger, with a kindness they can see We keep the message simple, we let compassion lead And when the door stays closed today, we trust the time and seed [Pre-Chorus] A thoughtful heart grows peaceful, a ready tongue grows free The more we practice kindness, the more relaxed we’ll be [Chorus] Lord, even the demons obey us in Your name But joy is found in serving, not in praise or fame You taught us how to listen, how to speak with love and care We step into the field prepared, and find Your presence there [Bridge] Not every conversation ends the way we planned Still You are beside us, steadying our hands With friendly words and courage, we’ll do what we can do The lesson we received, Lord, we’ll faithfully live through [Final Chorus] Lord, even the demons obey us in Your name Our deepest joy is serving, with a grateful heart aflame You taught us how to listen, how to speak with love and care We step into the field prepared, and find Your presence there [Outro] Prepared with love, we’re ready Prepared with love, we’re ready
