Doctor Frankenstein: Ecstasy of Knowledge
I found it— at last, I found it: the secret source of life itself. I did it— at last, I did it: I breathed life into lifeless matter. The hidden law of living things, the forbidden field untouched by man— I stepped into that realm. Anatomy, natural science, driven onward by obsession, I devoured every fragment of knowledge. From life to death, from death to life— I traced each chain of cause and change. I only wished to know. To understand. Through sleepless nights and endless labor, at last I uncovered the origin of life. A single voice resounded in my mind: Fiat lux. Let there be light. And suddenly, light burst forth into the darkness of my world. An ecstasy beyond all reason— a pleasure fierce enough to reverse life and death. How powerful the hunger for knowledge is. That which wise men sought since the dawn of creation now rests within my hands. To know. To live. To know. To live. What shall I seek next? What shall I conquer next? Though my face grows pale, though my body wastes away— I cannot stop. Is knowledge sin? No. Knowledge is power. And the hunger for knowledge is the hunger for life itself. I burn away my soul and rise toward greater heights.
