Broke Chair, Throne (Ravn Ft Raplover)

[Ravn verses|Original] [Intro] Yhea... I'm Raven... Uh [Verse 1] They say I'm gifted, got a knack for the syntax and pigment Paint a theme in a sentence, flip a scene in an instant Barely under my means, budget thinner than patience Dreams tastin' like vinegar, this is grape-bitter frustration Smile stapled in place when I'm sittin' with fam They applaud every scrap like I'm winnin' exams Freestyle paradox, trashcan full of diamonds Bars thrown away that could've fed an island Broke chair, crooked spine, still I'm writin' to pass time These pages are a graveyard full of alternate lives Where I kept every promise that I buried alive [Hook] I write and I write, but the needle don't move(EY) Every verse is a riot that nobody reviews(EY) They tell me I'm chosen, say my talent is proof(EY) But the ladder's missin' rungs, and the ceiling ain't proof(EY) I could stream, I could post, I could chase all the views (HEYY!) Trade my trauma for a clip and a comment or two(HEYY!) But my storytime nightmares got me stuck in this room(HEYY!) Where the failure feels familiar and success feels rude(HEYY!) [Verse 2] I got vows in my chest that I carved with a pen Now I'm fallin' through a cistern of old what-could-have-beens I keep punchin' at the glass that reflects who I am Watch it splinter into versions with a mic in their hand If talent's really currency, I'm rich in arrears Got a fortune in my notebook, can't cash in the years I'm the ghost in my own house, hauntin' my own career Watch my future drift by like it missed the pier [Hook] (repeat) [Bridge] They don't see me in the kitchen with the stage in my head Where the cheers are so loud they replace all the dread Then the phone stays quiet, all that noise goes dead Just the hum of "you ain't shit" loopin' over my bed I'm upset on the inside, outside I'm composed Like a bottle of champagne never popped, just froze All this pressure in the glass, every doubt that it holds If I ever blew the cork, it'd just spray out the ghosts [Outro] So if you find these lines buried in a notebook's spine Know a broke chair held a throne while I wrote this design If the world never sees it, still I carved out a page Where a man kicked when he's down turned his fall into rage [Raplover verses] [Spoken Intro] [Low voice] Yeah... I've been sitting on this one. Uh... Don't overthink it. Just let it play. Yeah... Raplover. [Beat drops] [Verse 1] They say I'm gifted, got a knack for the patterns and phrasing, I can pack a whole thought in a bar, then fracture the cadence, Money gets tight, so the plans get delayed in the making, Dreams taste bitter when every small win comes with waiting. I smile when I'm sitting with family, act like I'm stable, They see what I'm writing and praise what I'm able, But praise don't pay rent and potential ain't payment, So I nod when they talk while my thoughts keep escaping. Broke chair, crooked back, pen scratching late, Half of these bars get deleted, then half get replaced, I got pages on pages of things I was scared I would waste, Now the waste is the work and the work is the weight. I write with a rhythm that twists when you think you can catch it, Split syllables, skip beats, switch where the stress is, Let a phrase run ahead, then I drag back the ending, Make the rhyme hit late so you don't know where I meant it. [Verse 2] Got a storm in my chest but I'm calm when I speak, Keep the words in my mouth while the thoughts underneath, Then I get in my room and the silence gets deep, Funny how your own mind can be harder to leave. I look in the mirror, see pieces of people I could've become, Some are still running, some already done, Some wanted applause, some wanted revenge, Some just wanted somebody to say, “You can win.” If talent is currency, I'm wealthy but broke, Got a vault full of lines but no key to the door, I keep feeding the page while the page takes more, Every verse that I finish makes me want to record. So I bend every sentence till the rhythm gets crooked, Put a rhyme in the middle where nobody's looking, Then I cut the whole phrase with a pause in the middle, Come back half a beat later and finish the riddle. I don't want a flow that a stranger can steal in a minute, I want every few seconds to sound like there's something different, Not random, not messy, every switch got a reason, Like the beat keeps changing but the beat never leaves me. [Bridge] They don't see the stage when I'm stuck in the kitchen, Don't hear all the cheers underneath my own thinking, Then the music cuts out and the room starts shrinking, And the same little voice says, “You still ain't finished.” I'm calm on the outside, inside I'm electric, Too much in the bottle, too much to suppress it, If I ever let go, I don't know what I'm releasing, Maybe all of the pressure is exactly what keeps me creating. [Outro] [Pen drops] Nobody heard it. Not yet. Yeah... Raplover.
