[Verse 1] Brick dust on my hands Names turned into chains We built the flood of sorrow Under taskmaster rain Every call for mercy Fell back to the ground And still You heard our breathing When no one else was around [Verse 2] A bush on desert stone Burning and alive A voice that shook the sand Said I AM here tonight Take off your sandals This ground is holy You saw the hidden sorrow And You came for me [Pre-Chorus] Send a flame to the darkness Send a word to the storm Tell Pharaoh what You’ve promised We are Yours and we’re not his anymore [Chorus] Let my people go Let my people go You split the heavy night When You said let us go Let my people go Let my people go You carry us through water Like only God can do [Verse 3] Staff in steady hands Dust rose from the floor River turned to warning And the sky kept score Frogs in every doorway Then the locust wind A nation bowed in fear But pride still would not bend [Verse 4] Blood on every lintel A sign in the dark Mercy passed the houses Marked by faith in the blood We ate in haste Sandaled and ready Freedom came like thunder And the dead left Egypt empty [Pre-Chorus] Send a flame to the darkness Send a word to the storm Tell Pharaoh what You’ve promised We are Yours and we’re not his anymore [Chorus] Let my people go Let my people go You split the heavy night When You said let us go Let my people go Let my people go You carry us through water Like only God can do [Verse 5] Then the sea stood high Like a wall of glass We saw the fear behind us And the miracle ahead at last Wheels in the deep Soldiers in the foam You made a road through judgment And You brought us home [Verse 6] Manna on the ground Morning after morning Water from a rock When the desert was roaring Cloud by day Fire by night You stayed with stubborn people And You taught us how to fight [Bridge] At Sinai the mountain Shook like a living thing Smoke wrapped around the heavens And the thunder made us sing You gave us words to follow You gave us life to keep But even in the covenant We could hear our hearts run deep [Break] Forty years of wandering Still You did not leave Every step in the wasteland Was a lesson how to believe [Final Chorus] Let my people go Let my people go You split the heavy night When You said let us go Let my people go Let my people go You carry us through water Like only God can do Let my people go Let my people go Through wilderness and promise You were faithful all along Let my people go Let my people go The God who freed the captive Still breaks the chains today
