You came looking for a party. That's what you told yourself. A little music. A little darkness. Nothing you couldn't handle. [Beat enters] But then you opened the wrong door. [Short Break] And there I was. [Verse 1 - Male Vocal, smooth storytelling] Standing in front of the mirror Wearing something that wasn't mine Someone had left the lights on Someone had left the champagne I heard the music from downstairs Slow at first Then louder Then the whole house seemed to breathe with it I turned around And you were standing in the doorway You looked frightened I liked that. [Adlib - whispered] Mmm... that's better. [Pre-Chorus - building] You asked me who I was I said That's a dangerous question You asked me what I wanted I said You already know [BREAK - music cuts] Do you? [Chorus - catchy, repeated] I'm the devil in the dressing room The devil in the dressing room Step into my world Step into my world I'm the devil in the dressing room The devil in the dressing room You came here looking Now you're staying [Adlibs] Yeah... That's right Don't look away Come on... [Verse 2 - theatrical, playful] You tried to leave Very polite Very sensible I opened the door for you And somehow You didn't move Funny thing about fear People think it makes them run Sometimes it makes them curious You looked at the red curtains You looked at the old photographs You looked at me And then you smiled Just a little. [Break - spoken] There it is. I knew you had one. [Adlib - low laugh] Heh... heh... [Verse 3 - more confident, seductive theatricality] The band started playing again Someone downstairs screamed Someone else started laughing The whole house was alive now And you finally asked the right question "What happens next?" I poured you another drink I didn't answer You already knew. [Interlude - spoken over sparse bass and piano] Listen... There are houses you visit And there are houses that remember you There are nights you forget And there are nights That follow you home This is one of those nights. [Pause] Welcome. [Chorus - bigger, full band] I'm the devil in the dressing room The devil in the dressing room Step into my world Step into my world I'm the devil in the dressing room The devil in the dressing room You came here looking Now you're staying [Adlibs] Come on, darling That's it Don't be shy I saw you looking I saw you... [BREAK - sudden silence] Looking for me? [Final Chorus - huge, theatrical] I'm the devil in the dressing room The devil in the dressing room Step into my world Step into my world I'm the devil in the dressing room The devil in the dressing room You came here looking [Pause] Now you're staying. [Outro - spoken, fading music] The strange thing is... I never invited you. You opened the door. [Soft laugh] Happy Halloween 😈🎃
