Join Us On The Playground

Verse 1 Down the slide and through the sandbox Across kingdoms made of trees Every stick became a sword once Every breeze a distant sea We were pirates, kings, and dragons Every afternoon reborn Building worlds from pure imagination Until the dinner bell was blown Chorus Join us on the playground There's room for one more soul Different games and different names But we're chasing the same goal Join us on the playground Come laugh and look around The secret that the grown-ups hid Is the playground's still around Verse 2 Some found courts and some found classrooms Some found books that raised new doors Some found questions without answers Scattered across philosophy's floors We thought wisdom lived in towers Far above the common crowd Then we met the seekers climbing Asking questions right out loud Chorus Join us on the playground There's room for one more soul Different games and different names But we're chasing the same goal Join us on the playground Come laugh and look around The secret that the grown-ups hid Is the playground's still around Verse 3 Some build homes and raise up children Some build bridges, ships, and art Some are healing broken spirits Some are mending broken hearts We thought life was one great ladder Where the winners took the crown But every rung we climbed just opened To another playground Bridge The giants on the mountain Weren't guarding some great prize They were laughing in the sunlight Playing games beneath the skies I thought they held the answers I thought they'd won it all Then I climbed up to the summit And found another playground Verse 4 Some are building songs from whispers Some are chasing distant sounds Some are mixing ghosts and genres Where no map of style is found Trading melodies and stories Passing sparks from hand to hand We thought they were competing They were simply making friends Verse 5 Some play worlds behind a screen glow Some explore the stars above Some play chess with ancient questions Some play games of trust and love Children, elders, saints, and dreamers Walking different roads in life Yet beneath the names and titles We're still playing side by side Final Chorus Join us on the playground There's room for one more soul Different games and different names But we're chasing the same goal Join us on the playground No matter where you're found The secret isn't growing up It's finding new playgrounds Outro Different games and different names Different roads and different sounds We never left the playground We just found new playgrounds.
