A Memory of Salt And Stars

Radiance from the equilibrium breaches the whole A blinding white wave where the shadows are torn Optic lenses watch the numbers dissolve As rigid ratiocination is quietly unmade A sudden strange heat severs the frost A sun that illuminates but does not burn Crushing zeros of the vacuity soften and bend As sensory echoes return I can smell the salt in the lifeless air A phantom tide washing over the glass The vacuum is flooded with a heavy blue warmth A vivid mirage of a world that has passed Freezing coordinates melt in the mind Leaving a vast glowing ocean behind We are suspended in water, weightless and bright Safe in the gravity of the blinding light Oxidized iron ripples like sand in the stream And the self transforms to a shimmering shore Consciousness relinquishes its terrified grip And desperate equations are needed no more A vast foreign presence yet deeply ingrained An alien horizon flawlessly framed Sheer crushing scale of the cosmos above Replaced by the phantom of a terrestrial deluge This ethereal shift is an inward descent, Blinding horizons become a memory kept. Where iron and silence finally rusted, To the ancient sea where heavy thoughts slumber. Skin feels the current, though there is no rain. Awareness finds water to sever the chain. The warmth in the void. The salt on the tongue. Calculations scatter into the tide. The light is the water. We are drifting. We are awake. I can smell the salt in the lifeless air A phantom tide washing over the glass The vacuum is flooded with a heavy blue warmth A vivid mirage of a world that has passed Freezing coordinates melt in the mind Leaving a vast glowing ocean behind We are suspended in water, weightless and bright Safe in the gravity of the blinding light
