Back When We Were Young (Alt Rock Mix)

[Verse 1] We were running down the back roads, holes in our shoes Sunburn on our shoulders, nothing to lose Laughing at the future like it couldn’t come fast Writing all our secrets in the tall green grass [Pre-Chorus] Every little echo of the songs we sung Still rings in my memory, back when we were young [Chorus] Back when we were young, we were wild, we were free Chasing every sunset like it belonged to you and me Didn’t need a reason, didn’t need a plan Just a beating heart and a trusted hand Back when we were young, yeah, back when we were young [Verse 2] Streetlight halos on the cul-de-sac nights Pedal bikes and wishes, holding on tight Talking about the places we were gonna go Swore we’d stick together through the ebb and flow [Pre-Chorus] Every little echo of the songs we sung Still rings in my memory, back when we were young [Chorus] Back when we were young, we were wild, we were free Chasing every sunset like it belonged to you and me Didn’t need a reason, didn’t need a plan Just a beating heart and a trusted hand Back when we were young, yeah, back when we were young [Bridge] Pages keep on turning, seasons come and fade But I still hear our laughter in the choices we made If I could go back for a moment or two I’d stand in that twilight, right next to you [Outro] Back when we were young, we were wild, we were free You were right there beside me, where you’ll always be Mmm, back when we were young, back when we were young
