Choluteca Crossing
After twelve hours of driving by hitchhiking from San Salvador, Julian arrived in Tegucigalpa. His journey took him through the coastal villages of La Unión and the vast plains of El Amatillo. Exhausted by the heat, he was looking for a place to play. It was there, near the great river, that he crossed paths with a local man, who offered him friendship and an authentic glimpse into his home. ******************************************* © Copyright (2025) ******************************************* Verse 1 High up in mountains, the grandeur unfolds, Where ancient folklore warmly now holds. The Central Square invites all to stay, People are gathering throughout the day. I find myself in this Choluteca Crossing, Protected here from every kind ofossing. Chorus Warm winds softly blow. Old tales bravely flow. Vibrant colors glow. I watch the river go. Verse 2 The great Cathedral shines with golden pride, Where solemn spiritual thoughts now reside. I walk through La Leona's old terrain, Feeling joyful, free from any pain. Big murals show scenes from the deep past, These strong traditions are built to truly last. Chorus Warm winds softly blow. Old tales bravely flow. Vibrant colors glow. I watch the river go. Verse 3 The great Cristo statue stands very high, Looking at the deep blue morning sky. I see the old University's vast halls, Where knowledge beckons within its stone walls. These old customs feel so truly fine, A special feeling, wonderfully divine. Chorus Warm winds softly blow. Old tales bravely flow. Vibrant colors glow. I watch the river go. Verse 4 A local man then showed his grand home, No vast distances we had to roam. We shared quick laughs and a simple warm meal, A true welcome, honestly I feel. He talked of his life with deep affection, Building with me a true, strong bond and direction. Chorus Warm winds softly blow. Old tales bravely flow. Vibrant colors glow. I watch the river go.
