V4.5-ALL

Verse 1] In the beginning, before the stars took flight The earth was empty, shrouded in the night Darkness covered the deep, a silent, hollow sea Then the Spirit moved, calling life to be God spoke the Word, and the shadows flew apart "Let there be light," a rhythm for the heart He saw the light, it was good to His eye Dividing the day from the night in the sky. [Chorus] It’s the work of His hands, the span of the day As He formed the heavens and the cosmic way Day one, day two, the order starts to bloom Bringing life and beauty to the empty room. [Verse 2] He lifted the heavens, set the waters apart A firmament of wonder, a masterpiece of art Then the land appeared, rising from the blue Seas gathered 'round, as the earth began anew He covered the ground with the green of the grass With herbs and with seeds, as the seasons would pass The fruit trees blossomed, reaching for the sun A world full of promise, the work had begun. [Verse 3] Then He hung the lights in the dome of the height To govern the day and to rule through the night For signs and for seasons, for years and for days The sun and the moon reflected His ways He scattered the stars, a billion points of fire A chorus of glory, a celestial choir God saw it was good, the light in the dark The spark of creation, the heavenly mark. [Verse 4] The waters were teeming with life in the deep With creatures that swim and the promises they keep The birds took to flight, singing praise in the air While whales in the ocean declared He was there "Be fruitful, multiply," the blessing He gave The life in the ocean, the life in the wave Then cattle and creatures, the beasts of the field To the plan of the Master, everything would yield. [Bridge] "Let us make man," the Creator declared In the image of God, a life to be shared Male and female, He fashioned them right To walk in His favor, to live in His light He gave them the earth and the life in the sea To tend to the garden, to live wild and free. [Outro] He looked on His work, all that He had made In the beauty of order, the foundations were laid Behold it was perfect, it was very, very good Everything standing just exactly where it should The evening, the morning, the six days are done The work of creation, the victory won.
