05. Where I want to be (Commentary)
This is maybe the least quote-unquote "textural” song on the album but I think there’s enough, and I absolutely love the juxtaposition of this raw emo acoustic field recording vibe and then these super crunchy synths and like club breaks and electronic elements. Also the big drop around the 2 minute mark makes me so happy, it sounds SO crunchy and like the speaker is basically broken, and the layering is great, there are such weird artifacts in there that I'm obsessed with. I get a kick out of these lyrics too, just the ironic spelling out of awful situations and saying it’s where you want to be, it's either an in-denial thing or a tongue-in-cheek thing. I grew up on pop punk and emo and metal so this is one of my favorites overall, it's closer to what I've actually made in the past, just with fun new twists on top of it.
