First Light of Freedom

This was the first light of freedom,  
The dawn of deliverance,
the first moment of my chains breaking.

It wasn't grand, but it stood out
like a quiet heart shout
In my awareness, it shone clearly
in the midst of my mental fallacies
and like everyone, I had so many.

It was loosening the grip of deception
the endless lies uninspected
that as a human I inherited.
Unknowing bypasses everything

It allows a profound release
like a door opening,
of the mind into peace
beyond the traps we believe.
The limitations we are always making
are a lie, a complete fallacy.

I had just lost my first lover as a teen.
and my mind was insanely circling
the story around and around at hyper speed.
I didn't know what to do

Before my life with the Master true,
Nature had been my Temple of Peace
So I took off alone on a backpack trip
in the high  mountains
above Yosemite .

The heavy load
 slowed my steps
and burdened the body,
a perfect setup for mind release,
But the persistence of agitation
colored all of my observations.

[Operatic] [Singing Verse] [Melodic Chorus]
The gentle rustle of Aspen leaves
that sound like the rush of water
around the next bend,
The beauty everywhere
that would usually send
my being  on wings of ecstasy,
was muted and suppressed
by the mind  between me and everything

Then finally one day as I came
to the end of a switchback on the trail,
 suddenly my mind dropped
It came to a sudden stop!

I would not have noticed
had my mind been more at peace
but looking back this was a great dawning
that would become the open door
This was the first great Gift of my life
that allowed so much more

It was the first sign of the Divine
Working in my life
that would bloom soon into
my first Samadhi,
the Face of Splendor
the first encounter with the Being of Light
the One Who is Living all
the Giver of Existence
the True Self of  you and me.

But  in this first moment 
it seemed a simple mind release
into the quiet of Unknowing.

How brilliant could this be?
Unknowing bypassed the mind entirely!
I didn't think much of it then
I had no idea the profundity
of what had just happened.

But that Unknowing was the first
clear sign of my future Master
presently helping me.
 Unknowing began to come slowly
 more and more frequently
the closer I got to finding him
and coming into his company.

He proved to me one day
in a humorous way
that he had been helping me
for many years
from that dawning day
by giving me Unknowing directly.

And through the 15 challenging years
of intense testing, I discovered
Unknowing opened the heart
So the Master's Grace could
help me in ways my mind 
would have never imagined.

He said  Unknowing was the true state
It was his  gift to me
and the whole world for FREE.

The ego is like the hand  made into a fist
But Unknowing is the hand open wide,
This is a simple metaphor for the direct Way
beyond words or mental understanding

A direct path to freedom
A simple letting go.
 I now practice this  every day.
It allows the heart to pray
in a more effective way.
And it allows my heart to take wing
in boundless ecstasy to sing.

No one owns the Holy Light
or the Truth or the Way
There are endless thoughts, words,
and names we use that limit us.
But our true state, is beyond the mind,
In Unknowing we are completely FREE
Each of us is already free. every day.
This allows endless Blessings,
