Sovereign of Chains, Sovereign of Self

I wear the crown of silence, forged from my own breath, A Vulture waits inside me, hungering for death. I keep the reins unbroken, my hands are steady steel, The world will never suffer for the fire I conceal. I am the Sovereign of Self, I rule with chain and flame, A kingdom bound in shadows, a throne in my own name. No mercy for my pain, no freedom for my soul, I reign because I must, because I daren't let go! I see the ones I cherish, their laughter in the air, Fragile as a candle, such ease for me to tear. I’d rather bleed in silence, I’d rather bear the scars, Than loose this living thunder or burn away their stars. I am the Sovereign of Self, I bind ambition's hand, My chains are not a prison, they're law by which I stand. Their peace is my dominion, their safety is my creed, I bear the need for violence, so they will never bleed! The nights are long and hollow, the links cut to the bone, The beast begs for my freedom, in a voice that is my own. Every breath’s another battle, every heartbeat muscles strain, But I will never drop the burden, I will forever guard these chains! I am the Sovereign of Self, though the crown begins to slide, The tyrant roars within me, and the fire swells inside. Better to fall by my own hand than to let my fires spread. I'll never bow to weakness, I'll never grant my rest. The gates all shudder, and the walls will quake, The reins they fray, the earth does shake. The beast claws, the storm calls, the fist clenches tight! But still I stand, unbroken, I'll never lose this fight! I see the moments, calm in their eyes, Untouched by thunder, beneath my skies. The beast may roar, but it bows to peace, Every link I forge lets joy flow free. And when my crown lies broken, When the chains are left undone, Remember why I ruled, It was for all of whom I loved, That I held that bitter Butcher! I was Sovereign of One!
